So what did they do in this experiment?

The original version of John Wheeler’s experiment, proposed in 1978, involved light rays being bounced by mirrors. It has now become possible to successfully recreate the experiment using helium atoms dispersed by laser light.
Truscott’s team combined hundreds of helium atoms into what is called a Bose-Einstein condensate. After that, they threw out all the atoms until only one atom remained.
Next, the researchers used a pair of laser beams to create a grid pattern; This would scatter an atom passing through it just as a solid grating scatters light. So the atom behaves like a particle and passes one arm, or it behaves like a wave and passes two arms.
Thanks to the random number generator, a second grid was randomly added to reconnect the paths. This was done only after the atom had passed through the first grid.
As a result, the addition of the second grating caused the wave to behave like a wave, indicating that the atom was traveling both ways. At the same time, when the second grid was not added, there was no interference and the atom passed through only one path.
What were the results?

Since the second grids are added only after the atom has passed through the first, it is reasonable to assume that the atom does not ‘decide’ whether it is a particle or a wave before the second measurement.

According to Truscott, there are two possible interpretations of these results. Either the atom “decided” how to behave based on the measurement, or a future measurement influenced the photon’s history and it simply decided.

While measuring particle or wave motion, it was seen that the particles did not make a transition from point A to point B. Electrons (particles) went to many places at the same time.

Thus, this experiment increases the validity of quantum theory and provided new evidence for the idea that reality does not exist without an observer.
