The Structure Behind Data Scandals: Big Data and Its 5 Fundamental Components

Today, information is collected in data, not in encyclopedias as in the past. Big Data is the name given to the sum of all this data. I'm sure it surprises you as much as it surprises me that the information that could be stored in dozens of volumes of books can now fit into 1-2 cm sized chips.

“In the future, people will be able to fit into their pockets.
“With a small device, they will be able to access and analyze vast amounts of data.” –Nikola Tesla

Especially after the new data scandal, we all wonder 'where is all this information stored?' came the question. Big Data is exactly a huge library where our personal information is stored with or without our knowledge.

Although Big Data is a term we have just heard, it is actually a process that we have been a part of for a long time. Both the social media shares we make and the videos, photos, etc. we store on the internet. Many files can be considered the architects of Big Data.

The biggest difference between Big Data and information dump is that the data is stored in a processable form. Many companies that process and analyze data have been working on this task for years. Let's talk about the 5 basic components that make Big Data:

1) Variety

It is the diversity of data available to us at different levels that cannot even be predicted.

2) Velocity

It is the speed of data production and circulation between different databases.

3) Volume (Data Size)

It is the immense volume of data produced per second.

4) Verification

Verification is the accuracy and precision of information during the information flow.

5) Value

It is the value that Big Data analyzes and adds to companies in the production, promotion and marketing stages.
