Amazon’s Secret Plan Revealed: There Will Be a Robot in Our Homes by 2019
Amazon's next big move could be putting robots in our homes, and it could happen much sooner than we think.
According to Bloomberg, Amazon has been working on a project codenamed “Vesta” for many years. It is rumored that this project is about a robot that lives with you in the house.
According to Bloomberg, Amazon has a plan to test robots in employees' homes by the end of the year and make them available to everyone by the end of 2019.
The team behind the “Vesta” project is reportedly Amazon's Lab 126 team. It's the same team that makes Amazon's hugely popular Echo series, Fire TV and Fire Stick products. Therefore, it would not be surprising to expect Vesta as a new member of the Echo family, rather than considering it as a new product on its own.
To be frank, although Amazon's new “robot” project excites us all, we do not expect a product like Rosie in The Jetsons.
Looking at Lab 126's previous creations, we can say that Vesta could be an Echo with wheels. According to the report in Bloomberg, “People aware of the project think the Vesta robot could be a kind of mobile Alexa and accompany parts of the home where Echo devices are not available.”
