Scientists Explain: Why Does Social Media Cause Addiction?

According to a study conducted by psychologists at Binghamton University in the USA, the cause of social media or internet addiction is entirely based on our characteristics. The results obtained in the research were beyond expectations.

The research proved that people who are addicted to social media are more likely to be seen in people who can communicate comfortably and easily and have goal-oriented character traits, as opposed to those who have character traits that are asocial, introverted or have difficulty communicating, as defined by society.

The research was carried out by collecting data from 300 students. It was revealed that another characteristic of the students examined that increased their social media habits was emotional instability. Scientists stated that the goal-oriented feature does not cause addiction in itself, but the combination of emotional instability and ease of communication triggers addiction.
